Welcome to Fountain of Blessings, a Messianic fellowship based on the foundation and Hebrew roots of the Christian faith. We teach from the Middle Eastern perspective, and encourage individual study and research of Scripture. Our Lord and Savior did instruct us soundly, "Salvation is from the Jews." (John 4). The Semitic perspective sheds unique light on the Word of God rendering the Scripture distinctly applicable and practical. Thus we allow God, the Fountain of Life and Blessings, to reign in, and rain on our lives. "In Your light, we see light." (Psalm 36).

Joseph as a Prototype

(El-Elohei-Yisra'el Part II of III)

Jacob had twelve sons, and Joseph, more than any of his brothers, represented Israel as a people who struggled with God and man and overcame.

Despite the malevolence of his brothers, Joseph was destined to prosper, as he initiated the fulfillment of God's promise to Father Abraham: being a blessing to many nations.

It is, in fact, through the life of Joseph that the covenant family emerged as a nation in Egypt. Jacob elucidated the rich relationship that God longed to share with His people as he evoked a blessing upon him:

"Joseph is a fruitful vine,
A fruitful vine near a spring,
Whose branches climb over a wall.
With bitterness archers attacked him,
They shot at him with hostility.
But his bow remained steady,
His strong arms stayed limber,
Because of the hand of the Mighty One (Abiyr) of Jacob,
Because of the Shepherd (Ra'ah),
The Rock (El Sali) of Israel,
Because of your father's God (Elohim), who helps you,
Because of the Almighty (El Shaddai), who blesses you
With blessings of the heavens above,
Blessings of the deep that lies below,
Blessings of the breast and womb.
Your father's blessings are greater
Than the blessings of the ancient mountains
Than the bounty of the age old hills.
Let all these rest on the head of Joseph,
On the brow of the prince among his brothers."
Genesis 49:22-26

Joseph was separated to pre-eminence among his brethren. Jacob pronounced blessings in peace, and in war, tracing them all to God, whom he identified repeatedly as his own.

Surely Israel has had a tumultuous history since its inception. God's chosen race has been propelled through a journey of struggles, precisely as predicted. Initially, there was the strife relating to the exodus from Egypt to become an independent nation, resolved only with magnificent miracles. Following this were confrontations in the desert. No sooner were those settled when battles had to be fought for the conquest of Canaan. Finally, Israel was stable and prosperous for a time; that is when she developed a rebellious spirit, refusing to acknowledge her own God, Elohei-Y'isra'el.

Prophets were sent to admonish the people, and turn their hearts back to God. However, they killed all the prophets who rebuked them, and, finally even the Messiah, Himself, the Savior of the world.

After this last rejection, the nation was eventually dissolved. However, did God abandon Israel?
