Pesach 2016

When I see the blood, I will pass over you...
Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Pesach is the most celebrated of all the Jewish feasts! This ancient ceremony celebrates the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. However, it is also a remarkably clear picture of the life, death and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) our Messiah.

The central element of the first Passover was the lamb whose blood had been placed on the doorposts of the house to spare the people from judgment. The lamb had to be flawless and blameless without any blemishes.

Similarly, Yeshua was flawless, the perfect and sinless Son of God.

One of the symbolisms which I personally find most meaningful was that the Israelites used hyssop to smear the blood on the door posts, the tops and sides. Visualizing this, it is a sign of the cross where Jesus was stricken/wounded for our transgressions. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

I find it particularly touching when I ponder the Lord’s words as he said, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

My friends, it is the same door. There has always only been one way to be saved, by the blood of the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world.
