One of the major differences in God’s work since Yeshua came, is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost did not originate in the Book of Acts, but had been celebrated for 1500 years by Jewish people. In Leviticus 23, we read of the celebration with two leavened loaves. Leaven represents sin in the Scripture. Translated to New Testament times, the Spirit descends into imperfect vessels. We should never entertain the thought that we are not worthy to receive this indescribable gift. It is not about us, but God’s faithfulness. Descend upon us Oh Lord we pray; and we will shine Your light in this dark world. Amen.

In the Hebrew Calendar, Pentecost is celebrated June 12-13th this year, and commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. The connection to the giving of the Spirit is wonderful because The righteous requirements of the Law are met in us, who live according to the Spirit. We treasure our Hebrew Roots; God is the God of Israel. Indeed, we see Jesus in all the Feasts: Yeshua died on Passover, was buried during Unleavened Bread, Resurrected during the Feast of Firstfruits, and the Spirit was poured out on Pentecost. Perfect timing! As we celebrate Pentecost, we look forward to the day when the world will be filled with the Spirit, and the earth will be filled with of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

Even so, Come Lord Jesus, Come.
